Orthotics: Bring the Ground Up to You

Your feet are the foundation of your body. Just like a house with a cracked foundation splintering up to the roof, if your feet are out of alignment, that can cause a chain reaction of pain and strain throughout your body.

How Much Does Orthotics Cost?

Orthotics cost $450 per pair. There are no additional charges.

What is the Process like and How Long does this take?

A brief consultation and examination including a full biomechanical assessment and gait analysis will be performed. This is followed up by taking a cast of your feet. We will discuss the best type of orthotics for you including your choosing your top cover to modifications recommended by the chiropractor. This takes around 10-15 minutes. If you require treatment, an additional 15 minutes will be added.

Once I Receive My Orthotics, Do I Have to Always Wear My Orthotics?

It depends. The longer you wear your custom orthotics the more you may benefit from them including improved foot posture and mechanics during ambulation. The orthotics provide valuable input to your nervous system about how your feet should be aligned while concurrently helping to activate the intrinsic muscles of the foot. Re-assessment from 2 years of the orthotic prescription is recommended to observe any changes to your condition and see if further orthotic use is required or not.

If you would like to STOP wearing your orthotics, please consult with your chiropractor to see if it is appropriate. Treatment is likely recommended including joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, strengthening exercises, and stretches prescribed to ensure a smooth transition. Recommendation of supportive footwear may be made.

Why Are My New Custom Orthotics Uncomfortable?

It is normal to feel uncomfortable at first as the orthotics are working to realign the structure of your foot. This is comparable to how there is discomfort when wearing new braces to realign your teeth. You may feel pressure in some areas but this should lessen over time. For this reason, you will be instructed to wear your orthotics in 1-2 hour intervals and slowly increase to full-time wear. During the initial break-in period (approximately 2 weeks), it is recommended to see the chiropractor for check-ins and treatment to address any symptoms.
